The Truth About Recovery

We find refuge in meaning.
Words are spells.
They create a very SPECIFIC vibration in the body called an emotion.
This dictates much of the time why and when you drink.
You are a human and can observe your thoughts.
This is your super power.
Pay attention to the actual words you say and how they make you feel.
What do they mean to you?
Is there a different interpretation?

The term "recovery", when it comes to alcohol, is something I never quite understood, until now.
Some schools of thinking claim that if you change your relationship to alcohol you are always in "recovery".
Does this mean you are forever healing?
Is this a lack of acceptance?
Or a misunderstanding?
It seems to me this implies the person is sick forever because the affects of alcohol on them are detrimental, vs. accepting that alcohol is not suitable for the human?
PSA: the affects of alcohol on every human are detrimental.

We have deemed alcohol a requirement for adulthood in a way that is so deeply embedded in our unconscious, and yes, even in our DNA, that it is more "normal" to drink, than honor the way my body responds to an addictive neurotoxin.
Another way the human is shamed for it's humaness.

The logic is not here for me.

This word/understanding, is what terrifies so many people, from looking at their relationship with alcohol in a loving way.
A way that says, I simply feel better without it.
It's habit forming and takes up a lot of my time.
I'm interested in other things and being a clear channel.
I am regaining possession of my power of choice and my mind.

In the dictionary Recovery is defined as:
a return to a normal state of health, mind, or strength.
the action or process of regaining possession or control of something stolen or lost.

This basic definition FEELS better, right?
And when we FEEL better, we take different actions.
We unapologetically choose health over social norms.
We don't hide in isolation to heal.
We seek refuge in support.
We awaken to see life in a new way.
A way that does not require alteration of THIS moment.
I don't use labels, but if WORDS are what's stopping you from living the life you deserve, choose new words that resonate with you in a way that inspires you into action.

In today's podcast episode, I have a new word you will LOVE.
I speak to a Hawaiin concept that came into my sphere recently called, PōHALA.

PōHALA, takes the understanding of what has been lost and regained, to a NEXT LEVEL of evolution of the human.
Where alcohol becomes dust in the wind.
When you start to live PōHALA, (from my novice understanding), you are able to detach more deeply from the memories of emotions.
You more clearly see social noms and constructs that limit.
You are able to heal through surrendering the egos's attachment to identity.
This is next level recovery, in all ways we live through a lens of distortion.
This is EVERYTHING.

Find out the meaning of PōHALA, today on the show. And how to start to find more satisfaction in life.
Ep. #91: Stop Drinking and Start Living.
