The Shortcut Effect
Alcohol is a shortcut to happiness.
Shortcuts always require a compromise of our deeper truth.
We aren't really learning the way first hand.
The shortcut effect goes over the same path again and again with so much urgency
that the path becomes a rut.
In the rut, it's harder to see that there is another way.
The way where it's not about how quickly you get from A to B,
but that you do it with integrity,
without compromise.
The shortcut to happiness only ever gets you half way.
Then you are confused.
I thought this was the way.
So you keep reaching for the familiarity.
It becomes graspy and clingy.
For love, for happiness, for emotional management,
do you want the shortcut
or do you want to be in for the long game?
The investment in love, is the sacred journey of the self
and it has a net gain.
Eventually you ditch the need for the third party.
The shortcut is an illusion.
When outside circumstance dictate your emotional state,
or your ability to connect to the truth of your higher self, there becomes a deficit
and in the long run, the shortcut costs you more time than you gained in the first place.
The best part about being human is you don't have to start over.
In this moment there's no last ditch effort,
you simply need to know there are many paths that lead to the same destination
and they are available to you now.
It doesn't just take a willingness to change, but a true DESIRE to know thyself.
What are you compromising for the shortcut?
What are you gaining?
What if the direct route was the point of this whole thing?
Have a wonderful week,
Mary
P.S: Maybe you aren't sure what you have been compromising, because you haven't yet met that part of yourself. Or maybe it feels scary to uncover that truth. That's okay too. It's all part of the same thing, Being Human. In 1:1 coaching we create the container to explore it all.
